Free horror game
Melvin Roblox is a free horror game that has incredibly short gameplay. At first, it looks like nothing is happening on your screen until the lights flicker on and off and you realize that something is in the room with you. For longer games with better horror elements, you should try Dead Silence, The Asylum, and The Horror Mansion Game.
The game doesn’t really seem to have any purpose other than to keep Melvin’s legacy in the Roblox and deliver a jump scare. For horror fans who have played intense games in their lives, it won’t be appealing. There’s also little interaction with your surroundings.
Who is Melvin?
In 2007, there was a child gamer on Roblox that was popular in the community. He would join teams and go on runs, collecting as many items as possible. Then, he passed away from cancer in 2011, and Roblox honored him by making a shaggy hat ghost in Melvin’s name.
Not long after, Roblox removed the item from the platform. Rumor has it that the floating hat was disrespectful to Melvyn who has lost his hair due to cancer. However, there’s a myth that the Melvin ghost appears once a year to take vengeance by killing a player in a random game and permanently terminating the account.
Dark surroundings
In this Melvyn Roblox game, your screen is completely black while you hear soft sounds around you. You can walk around, but nothing gives you the appearance of motion. There’s also nothing to interact with. You basically wait for something to happen, which is when the lights flicker on and off.
Basic jump scares
The main game mechanic of Melvyn Roblox is to give you a jump scare and fear that you’ve lost your account. When the lights suddenly flicker, you’re meant to scream and jump in your chair. You may even see the shaggy ghost cross before your eyes, and then the game ends.
Nothing but a name
Melvyn Roblox banks on a name that many players know about and might search for on the platform. While it may have had many visitors in the past, over 130,000, it’s only because people are curious to see the shaggy hat ghost.
However, it does very little as a game. All you’ll have is some darkness and a momentary jump scare. Since it was last updated in 2015, there’s no hope for further development.
